Updated 1 Mar 2010

Super Sunday!

A big question at the start of 2009 was "can the GS Pony team repeat, and win another Super Bowl?" Some talented players had moved up to Midgets. Would the Ponys be able to put together another season like 2008?

The answer to all those questions was settled on Super Bowl Sunday, Nov 8, 2009. The final game would prove to be challenge as Coach Humer and his staff would have to alter their game plan after an unexpected injury sidelined Pony RB/LB Bill Williams, who broke his foot the week before against Swatara.

"When Bill got hurt, you could see a sense of concern and outright panic on a lot of people's faces", said one-time Football Coordinator, Jack Mitchell.

Nevertheless, Brad rallied the troops, an the players would pull together in the Super Bowl. They played like a true team.  And what a classic game it was! An epic battle between two great teams: Harrisburg and Good Shepherd.  Noteworthy performances from three Rams: Mark Hergenroeder, Nick Caldwell, and Keedrick Glenn, entertained a large crowd at Landis Field.  When the final buzzer sounded, Good Shepherd's Ponys were again CFA Pony Champions.  This unforgettable team are 22 and 0 over two years.

Congratulations to all the Good Shepherd players, the coaches and parents on a wonderful 2009 season!

Rams Alumni In The News!

Peter Anastasio Chooses Holy Cross

7 May 2010 - Former GS Ram Goes His Own Way

When Camp Hill standout Linebacker Peter Anastasio began his college search, you could say there was a little pressure to live up to. His two older brothers attended prestigious Ivy League schools in Brown and University of Penn.  His father, Paul, attended Lehigh University. So, starting off, Pete looked at them all.

"I took this whole process very seriously," he told the Patriot News.

In the end, Peter would choose his own path. The college that showed the most interest, and made the best offer, was Holy Cross, a Division I-AA private school in Worcester, Mass.  In 2009, Holy Cross finished 9-3, only dropping games to Bucknell, Brown, and Patriot League Champions, Villanova.

Both a hard-working athlete and stellar scholar, Pete is excited about this new chapter in his life. We wish you the best, Pete.

1 Mar 2010 - Two former Rams were recognized for their football play in 2009. Both are Trinity High School juniors. Colin Rigney #56 was selected to the First Team All Mid-Penn Patriot League on Offensive Line. Rigney is a very agile and punishing blocker, who loves to pull and lead the way for this backs. He demolishes whoever he blocks.  Austin Durham was selected to the Second Team All-Sentinel Defense at Linebacker. Durham is a fast, hard-hitting inside backer who loves to blitz and wreak havoc in opposing team backfields.

"Success is never final, failure is never fatal. It's courage that counts."
