Current Update 24 Aug 2009
The predicted rains never came. Sunday was crystal clear as Opening Day 2009 went off without a hitch. The Ram fans were ready, but Susquenita also brought a multitude of enthusiastic fans. A stage was set for a great day of youth football.

To start the day, the Smurfs looked organized and well-prepared for the season opener. They scored their first TD on a flare out pass from A. LaPorta to V. Bartow. Yes, folks, our Smurfs have a passing attack.

Our Peewees were handed an immediate injury to starting QB Quinn Buffington who was injured on the second play, and did not return. The squad found themselves locked in a 0-0 tie until late in 3rd quarter.  Finally QB D. Pentz, was able to follow fullback CJ LaPorta through an opening, where he scampered down the visitor's sideline to give the Rams 6 points! The Peewees went on to win 7-0.

The Pony team started right where they left off in 2008 with another win. They started from the opening kick-off, which went the distance only to be called back. But that was the last bright spot for the Blackhawks, and the Ponys rolled up 48 points in a solid showing for week one. Solid running from B. Williams, K. Glenn and S. Dominick was complimented by tough defensive play by M. Hergenroeder.

The Midgets also looked like a well-oiled machine as they took on a determined Susquenita team. At the end of the 1st quarter, the Rams were up 48 points, and the starters took a rest. When the dust cleared, the final score read 56 - 0. Noteworthy was D. Richmond who scored TDs on an interception return and kick-off return.

This week, the Rams travel to CV to face the Eagles at Stoney Ridge Park, 50 Bernheisel Bridge Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.

Rams Alumni In The News!

18 May 2009 - Christian Kuntz, Trinity High senior and former Good Shepherd Ram, was elated to defend his title in the 110 hurdles at Saturday's District 3 Class AA meet. But the treat of the day was his win in the 300 high hurdles, where he set new District 3 record by two tenths of a second, running a 38.68.
Footnote: Christian went onto States and nabbed GOLD in both 110 and 300 high hurdles. He is at Happy Valley working out with the Penn State Football team, hopefully hurdling defensive backs!

18 May 2009 - Camp Hill High School was blessed with a talented group of athletes in 2009. Among them were ex-GS Rams Jordan Weber and Ryan Stroup. Ryan played for GS in 2004, when his team were runner-ups in the Super Bowl. In 2002, Jordan also played in the Pony Super Bowl, also coming in 2nd.

Last Fall, Jordon Weber was Camp Hill's double-threat in football. He led the Lions in TDs scored (10), and in rushing/receiving with 864 combined yards.

On the basketball court, Ryan Stroup gave the Camp Hill a dominate "big man" in the middle, while Jordan served as a slashing wing.

We are very proud of your 2008-2009 seasons! Good luck on your collegiate futures, gentlemen!
